His experience is matched by his enthusiasm evidenced in his tours. 2011 represents his sixth year of giving tours along the Freedom Trail. What sets him apart from others is that his tour focus is from an academic perspective rather than simply for entertainment value.

Bob Miller, Tour Guide

While attending NCSU Bob taught decorative arts in the NCSU College of Design. After completing his degree at NCSU Bob moved north to Boston to further his studies at Boston’s North Bennet Street School, the last surviving traditional trade school left in the country, where he studied eighteenth century American furniture making, both studying style and design from the eighteenth century as well as making reproduction period furniture.

In addition to guiding tours and teaching history along the freedom trail, Bob also is working as a furniture maker in Boston, creating custom and one of a kind works. He also teaches history and decorative arts at Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts.
